Available for senior backend & platform roles

Haider Ali

Senior Backend Engineer

I design and build Python backend systems that stay reliable under pressure: distributed services, event-driven architectures, data pipelines, and LLM-powered features, running in production for government platforms, enterprises, and startups.

profile

About Me

I am a Senior Backend Engineer with over six years of hands-on experience building Python and Django based backend systems, distributed services, and event-driven architectures. My focus is on API design, asynchronous processing, and data pipelines, always with reliability, clean architecture, and production readiness in mind.

At SITE (Saudi Information Technology Company) I work on a secure government correspondence platform that processes over 5,000 transactions daily, where I handle everything from role-based access control and audit logging to asynchronous workflow design with Celery and Redis.

I have delivered production systems in regulated environments handling sensitive data, approval workflows, and audit trails, and more recently I have been building LLM-powered systems: retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings with vector search, and agentic tool-calling workflows deployed on AWS.

Senior Software Engineer

SITE, Saudi Information Technology Company · Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

  • Design and maintain backend services for a secure government correspondence platform processing 5K+ daily transactions.
  • Build and optimise Django REST APIs with strict schema validation, versioning, rate limiting, and secure authentication.
  • Implemented role-based access control across multiple authorization tiers, with SOC 2 aligned audit logging and centralized aggregation via the ELK stack.
  • Developed asynchronous workflows with Celery and Redis for delivery tracking, retries, delay alerts, and background processing.
  • Integrated a secure Document Management System with versioning, encryption, and governed access to structured and unstructured data.
  • Support production operations through on-call rotations, incident troubleshooting within SLAs, and improved observability.

Inside a System I Built

A CV tells you what I did. This shows how I think. Below is the architecture of the LLM-powered e-commerce assistant, and the reasoning behind the key decisions.

Why RAG instead of fine-tuning?

Product catalogs and policies change daily. Retrieval keeps answers grounded in current data without retraining, and every answer can cite its source.

Why tool calling behind the API?

The model never touches the database. It requests actions like order lookup through validated, permission-checked backend functions, so the same security rules apply to AI and humans.

Why audit every interaction?

Coming from regulated government platforms, I treat AI output as a system action: logged, attributable, and reviewable when something goes wrong.

working style

How I Work

Interviews usually get here eventually: what I'm actually like to work with once the offer is signed and the tickets start moving.

Built for the bad day

I design for failure before it happens: retries, fault isolation, idempotent APIs, and monitoring. On my current platform that means 5K+ daily transactions with incidents resolved within defined SLAs.

Security isn't bolted on at the end

Years on government and enterprise systems made access control, audit trails, and data governance my default posture, not an afterthought bolted on before launch.

I optimise for the team, not my ticket count

I work in agile sprints, review code seriously (PyTest, SonarQube, CI quality gates), and have led and mentored developers. My job is making the whole team faster, not just my own tickets.

I stay on it through to production

From architecture and API design through deployment, on-call, and incident follow-up. I have owned backend projects across their full lifecycle at startups and at a national-scale IT company.
